Golfing Scotland...It's What We Do & How We Live

Golfing in Scotland is a way of life as Scotland has over 550 golf courses you can play on. Scotland has more golf courses per person than anywhere in the world! There are courses for any skill level from entry level beginner to Pro Tour competitions.  It's likely you'll have less time and more courses that you'll want to play so plan to stay as long as you can to enjoy the most of Scotland golfing.

Frequently Asked Scotland Questions

What's the best place to stay? Scotland has Bed and Breakfasts, hotels, and Air BnBs that include 12 castles. I recommend Trip Advisor to get up to date reviews.

Is COVID-19 in Scotland? Yes, but courses are now open using precautions

Who is "Sir" Teddy Forgan?

Teddy Forgan is a fifth generation Scot and golf fanatic.  Teddy is a scratch golfer who once vied for the Pro circuit but life's happenings got in the way. After an unfortunate foggy morning motorcycle accident which left Teddy with a broken hip, femur, fibula, and tibia, his Pro dreams were crushed.  But, sometimes you have to grab life by the golf balls and through physical therapy, hard work, and a burning love for the game, I now enjoys recreational golfing, teaching others about golfing, and working as a golf pro.  My life's greatest passion is helping my youngest son, William, learn the game in hopes of carrying on the Forgan golfing legacy.

In addition to being a teacher I, Teddy, am also golf collector with over 1300 different golf balls from around the world. My golf club collection includes the Forgan golf clubs along with singles including Cortex drivers, Cobra King F9 Speedback driver, classic Callaway X22, TaylorMade, Stewart, and Honma Beres.  His dream is to one day own the Andrew Dickson long nosed putter.

The personally favorite course of mine is the Royal Dornoch.  This course is off the beaten path so to speak and is a hidden gem.  The views, beach, and summer colours invigorate the senses.  While playing this course there is a sense of oneness with the land and it's easy to picture yourself back in simpler times. The Royal Dornoch was established in 1877 and this is where Donald Ross grew up playing golf.  The course runs fast and bring your power driver as the 7th is a whopping 464 yards.

If you bunk in Dornoch, be sure to leave time to sample the whisky.  Personal favorites are the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban and, when the pocket is filled, the Grand Vintage provides a smooth intense experience.  I recommends you eating at the Greens Restaurant and trying the duck spring rolls, Cullen sink, and the oysters never let you down when you're with that special someone.

While life has ups and downs, the steadfastness of golf, family, faith, farming, and friends has always helped me navigate these times.  While there are many more advanced golfing websites, this one is based on local flavour, lots of time on greens, and is a work in progress.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy working on it.
